The Google Girls Philadelphia Music Festivals and Converts

Philadelphia is known for having fun music festivals and concerts all summer long. When the Google Girls and other RDM employees are taking a break from listening to our different office playlists, we try to explore the various concerts and festivals that happen in the city!

There are many different music festivals going on during the summertime. Here is a list of some of the best music festivals & concerts that you should check out this summer in Philadelphia!

Festival Pier Concerts

Located right past the Ben Franklin Bridge, the Festival Pier at Penn’s Landing is a fun outdoor concert venue that holds events all summer long! Known for its Radio 10.45 summer block parties and other alternative band concerts, you cannot miss out on this amazing music scene.

Make sure to check out the many fantastic artists/bands playing this summer such as; Third Eye Blind (June 25th), Logic, (August 5th), The Goo Goo Dolls (August 6th), and much more!

 

Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers (July 1st)

Enjoy a middle of the summer concert from the classic rock band, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers. Located in South Philadelphia at the well-known Wells Fargo Center, this show is perfect for any fan of classic rock music. Don’t miss out on seeing some of their classic songs such as “American Girl,” “Breakdown,” and “Listen to Her Heart,” live in the City of Brotherly Love!

 

The Wawa Welcome America July 4th Concert

This six-day patriotic festival that is hosted by a local favorite, Wawa, is a Philadelphia tradition. What makes it even more unique is that the concert is on America’s birthday in the city where this great country was founded!

Along with the music, Wawa will be granting free admission for all to the National Constitution Center and free Wawa hoagies outside the center on June 29th! The weekend is filled with events for every age and person! Don’t miss out on the amazing “Party on the Parkway,” on July 4th which includes headliners such as Mary J. Blige and Boyz II Men. The festival also end with a fireworks display to celebrate this amazing country!

 

Kendrick Lamar (July 19th)

For the rap and hip-hop lover, do not miss out on seeing this rap icon in concert in South Philadelphia at the Wells Fargo Center. Featuring all of Kendrick Lamar’s great albums, this concert will be one for the books. Top artists Travis Scott & D.R.A.M. will be the opening the concert on the 19th of July.

 

Philadelphia Folk Festival (August 17th-20th)

The 56th annual Philadelphia Folk Festival will be coming to Philadelphia again this summer! This Woodstock inspired event is for all Folk lovers or people that are looking to explore new music genres. Located right outside of the city, this event is unique due to its location. It is located on a local farm and sponsored by a nonprofit organization; the Philadelphia Folksong Society!

 

Made in America (September 2nd & 3rd)

Hosted by Jay-Z and Budweiser, this Labor Day music festival is a huge event in Philadelphia! Made in America Music Fest will host the hottest artists in the industry such as J. Cole, The Chainsmokers, Marshmello, Migos, 21 Savage, DMX, PnB Rock, and much more! This great end of the summer music festival takes over the Benjamin Franklin Parkway to celebrate America and music!
