The Google Girls’ Guide to Fall in Philadelphia
It is that time of the year again, leaves are changing, the thermostat is dropping, and pumpkin spice is considered a food group. There are so many fun activities in Philadelphia that we like to participate in during the fall season (when we are not “Turning Clicks into Clients” of course).
Grab your plaid scarf and riding boots and take some time to explore all of the festive activities that Philadelphia has to offer throughout this season! Here are some of the City of Brotherly Love’s best activities to participate in this fall:
Terror Behind The Walls at Eastern State Penitentiary
A massive haunted house inside of a real abandoned prison, Terror Behind the Walls located in Fairmount, Philadelphia is one of the scariest haunted attractions in the country! With its six haunted attractions, it is an entertaining fall activity that will take up an entire night out.
Pro Tip: It is cheaper to buy tickets online always, and the tickets are usually a lower price during the week. Check out their website before you go to buy your tickets and get the best deals!
Reading Terminal Market’s Harvest Festival
Saturday, October 21st from 10:00 am – 4:00 pm the Reading Terminal Market will be hosting a fall harvest festival to celebrate the foods of the Pennsylvania harvest! This event will also include a festive beer garden filled with drinks and snacks. This family-friendly event will even include a chance to ride a tractor for a hayride around the market, enjoy the Reading Terminal Market pumpkin patch, eat your favorite fall foods, listen to music, and more!
The Glow: A Jack O’Lantern Experience in West Fairmount Park
GLOW will be lighting up Philadelphia from October 6th -29th with over a thousand Jack O’Lanterns designed by over twenty artists. This fall-festive trail will follow throughout Fairmount Park and takes thirty to forty-five minutes to walk, so feel free to bring hot cider, some snacks, and your camera for this fall filled event! Adults tickets are $16, and child tickets are $10 and are open to all ages! GLOW will be going on Thursday-Sunday until Halloween.
Pro Tip: If you go to their website and sign up for the Jacks Club, you will be emailed a special discount code for your ticket!
Ghost Tours of Philadelphia
Take the walking tour of the most historic city in the country! Find out the haunts within Philadelphia with a candlelight walking tour through Independence Park, Society Hill, and Old City. This attraction is open year round but offers extended hours through the fall season. Right now, the Ghost Tours are also offering Philadelphia mansion tours as well, perfect time for the fall season!
Halloween Movie Series at The Schmidt’s Commons
Beginning on October 26th, The Schmidt’s Commons will be showing Halloween themed films including Dracula, The Rocky Horror Picture Show, and Hocus Pocus. Bring your friends, snacks, chairs, and fall spirit for a movie night in Northern Liberties! The Schmidt’s Commons will also be having a doggie costume contest before the movie event, with a $10 entry fee you are eligible to win one of their five fantastic prizes. All proceeds from this event will benefit the Street Tails Animals Rescue.
Fall is the perfect time to grab some friends and have some festive fun! With endless activities in Philadelphia, it is impossible to not get into the spirit this season thanks to the help of a Google Girl’s Guide.
Wishing you the best fall season from RDM!
